Despite what most left-of-center Presbyterians tend to think of the Presbyterian Layman, whoever wrote up this article actually did a pretty good job capturing the diverging points of the conversation. If you're looking for a primer of the conversation to this point this is a good place to start.
Even with such a provocative title as "Vice Mod says 'Scripture is not the Word of God'" (If that's not top-tier sensational journalism, I don't know what is!) you kind of got the sense that when we Presbyterians disagree graciously even those who disagree passionately recognize that there's very little mud that can be slung.
I'm actually quite happy the Layman published this article and that this conversation is happening. I was starting to think that I was the only one who wanted to have a national theological conversation. We're in one of those pivotal "rummage sale" moments that Tickle describes, and Presbyterians need to be digging through our stuff to figure out what we're gonna keep. If my big mouth helps us to do that, then thanks be to God! ;)
