    Rick Santorum and Race

    As a former pro-life Evangelical, I totally knew what Rick Santorum was saying. You may not like him but the man IS consistant in his ideology.

    It's a shame that the article was so poorly-written that I decided to stop reading it. I realized I was reading every sentence three times in an effort to understand the pseudo-subtle points the author was trying to make. Perhaps we can get a Landon-written cliff note?

    The upshot is that many pro-lifers tend to view the status of the unborn in the same way that abolitionists viewed the status of the African slaves: they are real people and should be treated as such.

    So Santorum's issue here is not actually a racially incendiary thing to say at all. He is simply stating (from ignorance and arrogance, howeer) that he cannot conceive of why our President - a black man - would be pro-choice, for that would be tantamount to negating the personhood of all people of color.
